Kartell recently inaugurated its first single brand flagship store in Cape Town, South Africa, which will be World Design Capital in 2014.
The 60 years’ history of Kartell is told through all of its products, which express the language and atmosphere of the period they were created in, but at the same time are contemporary and multifunctional objects containing many other values and messages. All of this has made them integral parts of the domestic scene. Kartell calls it “democratic luxury”: affordable products with unique shapes, quality and aesthetic appeal. The merchandise ranges from chairs designed by some of the world’s most prestigious designers, exquisite table selections, lamps and somewhat quirky accessories to shoes from the house of Moschino for Kartell.
Located in the design district of De Waterkant in the courtyard of the Hudson Building, one of the most prestigious buildings in the city and home to several architectural firms and the city’s famous coffee bar, Origin, the new Kartell showroom was opened in collaboration with A+I Unlimited Design, its exclusive partner for South Africa.
This partnership will lead to the opening of at least five stores over the next three years, in addition to the development of a strong demand for Kartell products in the business sector.
