From the exterior, this estate home is picturesque and bold. Striking in its uncomplicated design, the home is visually unobtrusive and exhibits a classical character, beautifully showcased in the top floor’s chocolate-box framed windows.

In keeping with this motif and the surrounding natural expanse of the estate, the back of the house is equally as enticing. The lawn hugs the patio and pool, which adds texture to the garden with creative paving.

Hands-on during the design, construction and finishing phases of the house, the home owner moved away from the classical theme of the exterior and opted for a modern, chic design in the interior. Pale tiles, neutral-coloured walls and light timber flooring offer a canvas for quirky accents, and stylish decor and furniture.

Each room in the home is unique in its style, palette and design. Natural light plays an important role in illuminating the hallways and bathrooms.

The double-volume living space lends itself well to the suspension of strategically placed chandeliers and soft downlighting. Distinctive furniture pieces counteract the light palette, emphasising the modern look of the interiors.

The centre of this family home is the open, flowing kitchen, dining and living area – functional, comfortable and spacious. The space is versatile; the family can enjoy a relaxed meal seated around the kitchen island, or have a more formal dinner around the innovative glass dining table, moving later to relax on the couches in the living room.

More family fun and modern design are found in the home entertainment room, where couches, cushions and a home theatre system offer a perfect night in. Once the movie is over, the bedrooms are sanctuaries to which the family retires.

Although they are decorated in the continuous neutral palette, metallic embellishments bring in a modern touch, tying together the home owner’s distinctive style, tastes and personality.
