The site itself formed the basis of all decisions, with the configuration of the home effectively executed to divide the property into three levels – one that functions as the main residence and two alternative levels for guests, hobbies and other amenities.
According to the architect, the broken-up, barn-like structures celebrate the simple historic forms, but the technical composition and structural resolution of steel trusses and a timber ceiling create a fresh and modern spatial experience. Enhancing the architectural design, a balance of materials was incorporated into the build, including natural warm wood finishes with brutalist concrete surfaces, which come together to create a natural yet sophisticated feel.
