Bathrooms

A holistic approach

Neutral tones are soothing and perfect for a bathroom. Kate van Niekerk, marketing manager of Tile Africa, explains: “Natural tiles, such as sandstone in shades of vanilla, ivory and warm honey are ideal. Experiment with different textures by combining standard-sized tiles with mosaics or pebbles.

Experts from On the Tiles add: “Mosaics are great for a bath front on a curve, as this eliminates the option of having to cut tiles into strips and at the same time create a focal point”

Bathroom expert Stucco Italiano specilises in cement. The advantage of this product is that it comes in a wide selection of colours and textures for virtually any application in the bathroom. “It may come as a surprise to some, but cement is a proven, environmentally-sound natural and official green product”; adds Nicky Coetze of Stucco Italiano.

The Fingerprint of Nature collection from Italtile, has been inspired by nature. The washbasins are reminiscent of small bays carved out by the ebb and flow of the sea.

Wooden vanities and cabinets are not only functional but attractive in design including walnut, maple and white as well as cherrywood and can be used to great effect to influence the character of your bathroom effectively.

Ideally, your bathroom should be an open, airy space, enhanced by large windows to bathe the interior with natural light. In short, when designing this style of bathroom use simple products that mimic or come from nature.
