Aegean tranquility

With its recessed arches and natural tones, this home has been renovated to replicate aspects of the owner’s childhood home in Cyprus. Much thought and feeling have gone into the redesign of what was an outdated home with little appeal. “From the day we saw this house, which one would not have given a second glance, I could see its potential,” says the home owner, who was also the interior designer. She noticed that it had “strong bones”, and by opening the spaces and adding her “dream arches”, the structure was transformed into a modern and simplistic version of her family home.

Light, screeded floors enhance the pervading sense of “Aegean tranquillity”. This simple finish complements the natural tones and materials used to create a Mediterranean feel. Solid sleeper beams inside and outside the home are yet another nod to the owner’s childhood home in Cyprus.
