I wrote this post at 10.16pm in retrospect to my day. Yesterday I did a few things I don’t normally do:
• Go on a road trip
• Drive long distance
• Experience an off road vehicle, the Toyota Land Cruiser.
It has certainly been an adventurous trip to say the least. After leaving our offices in Rosebank, we made our way to Harties to collect our vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser. Comfort was not of utmost importance, as we bundu-bashed our way across to our destination – Madikwe Game Reserve.
Over 75 000 hectares of land, the Madikwe Game Reserve, which is quite close to the Botswana border, breathes of natural beauty and holds a majestic South African feel.
The drive was long, as it took us almost five hours of straight driving to reach Madikwe – we did not consider even making a stop as our excitement to make it for our first game drive was top priority. The Impodimo Game Lodge had promised a delicious welcoming high tea, and a 3.30pm game drive. We unfortunately missed our game drive, and alternatively indulged in high tea, which offered an array of sweet and savoury temptations, not to mention the most divine peppermint and chocolate tart paired with an Indian spiced chai by the pool overlooking elephants passing by a near water reservoir.
It’s these breathtaking sights that puts you in a new mind space, as I instantly felt the weight of the city drop between my shoulder blades, as I sipped on a hot cup of tea.
One of the beauties of Impodimo Game Lodge is the way in which the lodge is apart of its surroundings, as there are no electric fences that prohibit animals from entering the lodge. While you might feel a little nervous about this, once you are here, it’s really something that stands out about Impodimo Game Lodge.
Impodimo has delivered its promise, with its five star luxury hospitality and accommodation (lodging). With rooms that make your forget that you are in the bush, it’s the perfect space to switch off and escape.
