Seaside chic

Thoughtfully renovated with an emphasis on flow and function, this seaside apartment brings the owner’s vision of coastal chic to life. A carefully curated palette of colours, materials and finishes was used to enhance the home’s sense of ‘relaxed elegance’, explains the designer. An ocean-inspired colour scheme with warm whites, sandy beiges and driftwood greys provides a ‘timeless backdrop’, while accents of blue and green textiles and accessories add depth. It was important to incorporate the natural surroundings into the renovation of this home, explains the designer. “The ocean was the key inspiration from the very beginning of the design process.”

Large glass doors and almost floor-to-ceiling windows amplify the views of the Atlantic Ocean, allowing natural light to flow throughout. The open-plan layout allows for a view of the sea even from the kitchen, where brushed brass fixtures and classic pendant lighting add warmth and ‘timeless elegance’. In the kitchen, Shaker-style cabinetry with a soft off-white finish is paired with Carrara marble countertops and hand-glazed ceramic splashback tiles.
