After 11 years in their former home in Johannesburg, this family decided to simplify their lives and relocate to the Cape, where they could focus on spending more time travelling and outdoors. “We wanted a lock-up-and-go in a safe estate where we could live in a minimalist environment.”
The home owner admits that giving away loved possessions ahead of the move was challenging. “In the end, the only things that survived were some art pieces given a new lease on life with modern frames, a few mattresses and a beloved Chinese medicine cabinet, which proudly stands its ground between the new and modern furniture.” Smaller pieces were powder-coated or sprayed black to give them a chic makeover.
