When originally purchased, the home owners did not pay much attention to the house itself, but instead were captivated by its stunning position on the water’s edge.
Some two years ago the family took the plunge and decided to redevelop just about everything on the property. The end result: an under-roof space of 700m², comprising spacious double volume living areas, an adjacent fully furnished and equipped rondavel, five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and an abundance of space to entertain family and friends. “Some of the unusual and interesting spaces would have been difficult to furnish without the help of interior designer, Guaddy Caldeira, who ultimately created a look and feel to the interior that we just love – functional, casually elegant and comfortably suited for holiday living.”
Luxurious fabrics in different textures, custom-made couches and a colour palette in hues of gray, blue and teal are perfectly complemented by rich browns and the abundance of solid wooden furniture, and make this home a true relaxation haven. During the day, the large stack doors can be opened up completely to expose a spacious and inviting furnished wooden deck where the invigorating breeze and fresh air allows for plenty of outdoor lunches and sundowners.
This ultimate holiday home was created to be a waterside haven, where both kids and adults can happily co-exist. Enough room and entertainment is certainly provided, but the home’s most striking feature is undoubtedly the phenomenal natural surroundings and bird life. It is a true home away from home, and all those fortunate enough to spend time within its walls will certainly leave rejuvenated, inspired and ready to face the world.
