Having been in the construction industry for the better part of 30 years, the developer of this home has had properties in this Garden Route estate since 2011. He explains that although his company primarily operates in the mining and petroleum sectors, building this home allowed him to create something unique. Given his background in structural civil engineering and the fact that the stand sits on a cliff edge, he wanted to build a home with strong concrete features, including exposed beams and pillars.

“I am a very symmetrical person by nature, and I have always loved strong lines and concrete finishes. This property was quite challenging as it cantilevers over the cliff, with the whole front almost hanging in the air,” says the developer. To get the most from the stand, he worked with an architect familiar with the area’s landscape, and with whom he has worked on previous projects. “He understands my style very well, and after a few design alterations, I was extremely happy with the final layout and design,” the developer explains.
