The beauty of this family holiday home situated in a quaint, coastal town near Cape Town is that the owners don’t have to drive hours to get there.
When they saw this spot, they had no choice but to renovate it. This house was a simple, small beach cottage that was very run down. “We built a new concrete balcony, which became the roof of our downstairs patio area. This also maximised our sea views as we are in the second row of houses from the beach,” says the owner.
“We removed walls and created an open-plan floor area downstairs to modernise the space, and converted the tandem garage into two simple guest bedrooms as well as staff quarters and retained a single garage,” she adds.
