Set within an estate offering panoramic mountain views and abundant wildlife, this home has been designed to be immersed in its natural surroundings. “The owner wanted the space to have a strong indoor-outdoor connection, yet still feel intimate enough to be private,” explains the designer.
The site’s low level, restricted by a flood line, was quite an obstacle when it came to construction. However, the introduction of an additional landfill to raise the site level increased the buildable area and allowed for 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. It also made it possible to recede the residence further away from the street for added privacy and tranquillity.
