Monkey seed ceramic salt pods

Sabby tea and mocha spoon collection

Nijiwa peace cup

Pamela Schroeder’s new range of gilded cutlery and ceramic tableware is exquisitely delicate and interesting. Inspired by her historical background of African and International Art History, ancient and contemporary iconography and motifs; she translates the contrasts of culture and nature, into a harmony of pattern and texture, with a personal dynamic that distinguishes her work.

The monkey seed ceramic salt pods are based on a seed form indigenous to Zambia. The natural shape allows the twig salt spoons to find a natural resting place in, or across the pod.

Inspired by Sabby the cat, the stray brought home from Bara hospital, and her love for the plants and the garden, the Sabby tea and mocha spoon collection is created from the pods, leaves and flowers Pamela finds in the indigenous garden of her friend.

Nijiwa is the Swahili word for dove and her Nijiwa peace cup is a homage to Swahili and its depth of expression. I love the handle – a ceramic white dove ‘perched’ on the edge of the cup .

Pamela’s collection is available from her store Aboda Designer Gifts and Origination.
