Floral delight

Now that Spring is officially here I’m feeling inspired by all things floral, and looking for different opportunities to bring the beauty of flowers into my home. After doing some research I’ve decided to dot my house with clusters of blooms and be pro-active by introducing botanical prints through a variety of projects.

One of the first projects will involve transforming a tired looking pine desk to give it an attention-grabbing floral desktop. Apart from the desk, you will need paint pots (or botanical prints), varnish (or wallpaper glue) and cut glass to fit the desk. For those who are artistically inclined use enamel-based paint to paint blooms directly onto the surface of the desk or instead affix botanical prints (magazines, wallpaper, wrapping paper, etc) onto the surface using wallpaper glue.Then place a piece of custom-cut glass on top of the desk.

For a modern effect use a pattern with an oversize flower head. And for added interest add an antique effect to the desk with a crackled decoupage technique. Let us know how you will be decorating your home this Spring…
