While bearing in mind the rainy Cape Town winter weather, the hot summer months also played a role in the design of this house. The owner says that the beautiful white conservatory, a well-insulated structure built entirely from timber and glass, is the perfect antidote to grey winter months in the Cape.
Designed and built by Swissline Design, which completed several major projects here, it was positioned to allow for maximum sunlight, and features a highly efficient fireplace. During summer, all the doors open up to a cool, breezy outdoor venue overlooking the lush garden.
The owner says that, because the family has become fans of exquisite, high-quality Victorian bathrooms, they simply could not resist selecting these beautiful products to suit the overall interior of their new home. The classic English-style kitchen, featuring a gorgeous Lacanche stove imported and installed by Culinary Equipment, has become the owner’s favourite room in the house.
The visual aesthetics of the interior are enhanced by a number of carefully crafted items. Exposed trusses and old beams, as well as beautiful stonework, add to the warmth and relaxed living experience created here. Beautiful floor coverings such as the Swissline Design bamboo floors, were selected by the owner for their understated elegance. Classic grey and white, and black and white tiles from Quadrata’s Victorian range enhance the beauty of many different indoor and outdoor spaces.
For this family, nothing in their home is too precious to enjoy to the fullest, surpassed only by the calm serenity of the outdoors.
