Cathrin Bolt is the owner of Nowadays Interiors, a team of master interior decorators who offer a full interior decorating and design service to the residential, hospitality and corporate sectors.
What do you love about being a woman in your specific industry?
I think women in our industry are lucky that we fit the generalised stereotype for what we do. We do work on sites and projects that are male-dominated, but if you have survived a few years in this industry, they have great respect for your craft and role in the project. The greatest perk is that we get to work in sneakers.
What advice do you have for women starting in this industry?
The women in our industry are not here to compete with each other. Find what you excel at, practise and study it until your skills are unmatched. Then, most importantly, celebrate and learn from the talent around you.
How do you celebrate yourself?
It is a complicated mix between laughing at my limitations and pushing them at the same time. In essence, this is exactly who I am.
A woman to me is…
Beautifully complex, beyond understanding. That’s why we need to have grace with each other, forgive each other and practise kindness.
