Initially, the residents laid only the basic foundations of what they hoped to achieve for their desired home, starting with the garages leading to the house, creating a private courtyard area. From this basic outline the rest flowed, with architect Pieter Matthews bringing a small village-like appearance to the home.
By incorporating natural elements into the construction, such as natural stone and wood, the architects ensured a textured appearance. The decided to clad the whole house with rock, resulting in an exquisite timeless appearance. Over time, with rain, the natural rock finish will exude a rust effect, presenting a blend of old and new.
The external appearance matches impeccably with the interior. Collecting most of the furniture over the years, the residents felt no need to hire an interior designer, and filled their home with priceless memories and comfy finishes. The clever use of warm hues throughout the interior, mixed with wooden blinds, results in a homely ambience and welcoming living areas.
Fold-away stack doors and the incorporation of large windows around the house allow a plethora of natural light in. The farmhouse style, particularly evident in the kitchen, is further accentuated by the use of wood throughout the home. The wooden floors add to the image of easy living.
These home owners look fondly on their residence with an appreciation of the architectural design and immaculate interior finishes. This home is a paragon of beauty.
