Stand-out kitchens from 2022

Written by Shereen Lurie

Some kitchens are born to stand out from the crowd. Here are a selection of kitchens that really impressed the team at SA Home Owner with their unique design features and top quality craftsmanship.

1. A Touch of Class

Linear Concepts specialises in custom-designed and bespoke kitchens, bars, and wine cellars. For this home, the company brought to life the two bars, kitchen, and wine cellar. The client asked Linear Concepts to provide luxury designer pieces to be used to give their home a dazzling and opulent atmosphere. This was achieved by including plenty of reflective surfaces like glass, mirror, and brass inlays together with warm, white LED lighting. Some of the materials used for the bar include silver Paradiso granite with brass accent inlays. White cabinetry with veneer wood and grey-tinted glass can be seen in the show kitchen.

2. Dark Delight

Designed for easy entertaining, this Joburg home is an escape for its family and their loved ones. Situated in a premium eco-estate on the outskirts of the city, the home is in contrast to its environment, taking on a contemporary aesthetic that celebrates clean architectural lines, open-plan layouts and moody dark hues.

3. Vistas of Gold

The owners of this property instructed Linear Concepts to opt for sleek lines combined with an impressive yet elegant facade. The company succeeded by incorporating subtle design features throughout this breathtaking home. Linear Concepts was responsible for the show kitchen, patio bar and study, where contrasting colours and finishes were applied using light beige Duco spray and bold Italian porcelain stones. Linear Concepts is an innovative company that combines modern European design, technical quality, and craftsmanship to provide clients with opulent yet functional spaces. Linear Concepts’ unique selling point is its ability to ensure that all fitting needs are catered for under one roof, providing a full turnkey service.

6. The Grand Escape

Unassuming from its simple and sleek “A home is where we comfortably and safely live as exterior, this expansive triple-storey property comes across as a contemporary family home in the suburbs. However, there’s nothing ordinary about this home. With exquisite interiors showcasing the beauty of detail, this home is a true reflection of the home owners’ discerning taste in design.

7. Feels like Tuscany

The décor and design are a favourable mix of heirloom pieces and modern designs. “My client had many old heirloom pieces that she wanted to use, so we had to make sure we fused the old with the new,” the designer says.

8. Little Luxuries

This statement kitchen is the result of a collab of the owner’s brief for a sleek contemporary design with curves and CW Interiors’ fine execution. Here, the design firm played with a mix of light and dark elements, using texture for interest. A combination of veneer, duco and bronze doors was paired with porcelain slabs in two different colours.

Infinity Surfaces offers large-scale, versatile porcelain slabs that have become designers and architects’ favourite surface for creative design projects. This kitchen was brought to life with Pietra Grey by Infinity Surfaces, installed in a curved and fully cladded kitchen island. Durable and beautiful, Infinity Surfaces can be used inside and outdoors, from countertops to wall cladding.
