Building a home that embraces both the natural surroundings and offers stunning views requires careful planning, especially when it is situated in a gorge. For these owners, the key challenge of the design was positioning the property to maintain a balance between elevation for optimal views and integrating the surrounding bushland into the landscape. The owner explains that they did not want to elevate the property too much above the vegetation, but knew that the home also needed to capture the best possible vistas.
Therefore, the final placement, slightly lower down the slope, provided the perfect height for the view while offering the property protection from the strong winds coming off the sea in some way.
