Top kitchen trends

By Zamahlasela Gabela

Kitchen designs have certainly evolved over the years, creating opportunities for designers and architects to really play around. 2015 has so far proved to be another year where creatives have thrown themselves into reinventing the space. Here’s what’s happening across the globe in kitchen design:

Colour me in

Gone are the days of colourless kitchens and drab interiors. Your space can now incorporate a range of bold, vivid colours ranging from deep blues to bright reds. So whether you decide to give your kitchen just a small colour burst with a shocking pink kettle or go full tilt with canary yellow cupboards, it’ll be so worth it.

Go natural

This season, try something new and include natural, raw materials into your kitchen. Embrace open shelving made from reclaimed wood, exposed brick walls, as well as wood planks and organic motifs to give your space heaps of character and a sense of authenticity.

Heavy metal

Add depth and warmth into your kitchen with warm kitchen metals such as copper and bronze. What’s interesting about this trend is the way it’s crept into interiors straight from the catwalk. Brass knobs, faucets and pendants will add a rustic glam feel to your kitchen.

Chic concrete

Concrete is one of the most versatile man-made materials on the planet and has a wide range of uses in the kitchen. Make your concrete kitchen really stand out by combining it with a range of contrasting tones and materials.
