Build it green – part 19

Happy New Year everyone! Our new year started with double-yolkers on toast for breakfast, so I’m sure this is going to be a doubly-cracker year!!

Our house-building is under way again, and we have eagerly been popping over to the site to watch progress. Unfortunately the moat around the house is back again. The inspectors have finally decided to inspect the cabling, so unfortunately we lost about a day in labour having to open the trench again.

Other than that, a bit of plastering is underway; smoothing off the exposed brick of the foundation. It really looks great!

A few more window frames are lying around, waiting for placement, and I can’t wait for the doors to arrive! And a few ceiling boards are also in place, making the bedrooms suddenly look small!

Just before Christmas the big tree was removed from the middle of our driveway. It was a pity to see it go, it should have been removed before Spring had brought green life! Anyway, it’s thorns will not be missed, and I will replace it with something more appropriate in a good spot.

We spent yesterday tile shopping again. I think we have finally settled on a beige, neutral-coloured porcelain tile for our open-plan area. It has now been dubbed “the great room” and I am already dreaming of the potential of this lovely big space.

We are nearing the end of the structural development, so there will only be a few more entries before I start posting pictures of the finishings. Can’t wait! See you next week.
