At the beautiful Kirtlington Park in Hillcrest, the equine-loving residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to caring for their beloved families, usually a variety of the two and four-legged kind.

And creating a home from home on one of the luxury-sized plots is a pleasant affair, says this fortunate owner. Of the abundance of estate space that allows top-quality livery conditions for all horses, in the various sport disciplines of racing, show jumping and polo, she says it is hard to beat. The combination of a farming background running through this family’s veins, and a need for modern living in a town, is how this restful lifestyle in a private estate home with a farm ambience, was created.

The unique interior design solutions, including the selection of original master art by Adriaan Boshoff in this home, were skillfully provided by the two partners of Joseph Avnon Interiors, to complement the natural surroundings of all things earthy. This successful project was completed through the introduction of natural materials, seen in the beautiful sandstone in rich textures and finishes, as well as the upcycled parquet flooring, which was carefully restored by hand.

Natural timber furniture and fixtures in fine combinations suit the interior layout, where the open-plan kitchen within close proximity to the intimate dining and living areas, serve to make visitors feel instantly at home.

The architectural design of the house made provision for both convenient and private outdoor living, with the central courtyard and pool positioned to allow free flow from the interior through opening doors onto the green quad.

Completing this homely environment with a proud African theme, are indigenous garden spaces for the added pleasure of the residents.
