Decorate with tiles

Looking to decorate your bathroom with tiles? We spoke to Liza Watermeyer, Retail Display Coordinator at Tile Africa, about the decorative ways that home owners can use tiles in the bathroom. Here are her top tips…

Graphic, printed or mosaic tiles can be used to create accent walls behind the basin, bath and in the shower. An accent wall is one wall within a single room that stands out as it is different and interesting, be it due to colour or other decorative aspects such as mosaic tiles.
Tiles can be used to create wide or narrow, horizontal or vertical borders, whether it be with colourful mosaics, beautiful listelli or tiles cut into narrow strips.
Square tiles can be cut in half or thirds to create brick-like patterns or vertical lines to create the illusion of height. These narrow tiles are also great for tiling curved surfaces.
Mosaics can be used to great effect to create striking images or designs on the walls.
Pebble mosaics can give you a unique surface in the shower that’s textured and therefore slip-resistant. Repeat the pattern on the walls as a decorative border.
