What do you love about being a woman in your specific industry?
I love that I can create with my hands and get super dirty every day. It is like playing in a sandpit – sheer joy!
How do you celebrate yourself?
I have learned that if I burn out, my team burns out, so my mental and physical wellbeing are extremely important to create a healthy, happy life where I can thrive creatively. I spend time with like-minded people and family. I surround myself with beauty … and I rest!
What advice do you have for other women starting out in this industry?
It’s hard work. The longer you have your business, the harder you work. But it’s fulfilling with tremendous reward. Being an entrepreneur takes sacrifice – don’t give up, don’t let people shame you and walk over you. It’s an incredibly empowering life, something few women have the privilege of experiencing. You have the opportunity to create employment and change people’s lives, too. Follow your gut – not always the rules.
A woman to me is … someone with tremendous resilience, empathy and grit.
