Design Collective is a Johannesburg-based interior architectural studio specialising in concept-driven design, delivering tailored solutions from concept through to completion, with a focus on clarity, refinement and carefully considered spatial experiences.

What do you love about your profession?

I love the creative aspect of interior design and the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge I have gained throughout my career. I find great fulfilment in creating environments that are both beautiful and deeply personal to the people who use them. I also enjoy meeting new clients, consultants and manufacturers who help bring a design vision to life. One of the greatest rewards of my profession has been the opportunity to travel extensively, experiencing different cultures, architecture and design influences from around the world, all of which continue to inspire my work.

What legacy would you like to leave in the industry?

I would like to be remembered for creating authentic, timeless interiors that enrich people’s lives, but more importantly, for building meaningful relationships and mentoring others along the way. If I can inspire future designers to pursue excellence while remaining true to their own creative voice, that would be a legacy worth leaving.

Who or what has been your inspiration throughout your life?

My greatest inspiration has always been people who approach life with passion, curiosity and purpose. I am inspired by travel, architecture, art, nature and, most importantly, by the people I meet along the way. Listening to their stories and experiences continually broadens my perspective and teaches me valuable lessons that influence both my personal life and my career.

A woman to me is … someone who embraces her authentic self rather than simply following trends or expectations. She has the ability to lead, nurture and empathise with others, particularly those facing challenges. Her influence extends far beyond what she does; it is reflected in how she uplifts, inspires and empowers those around her.
