Dullstroom is a tourist town, and as such, Estelle Oberholzer Architects’ projects include tourist facilities such as shops and restaurants. The majority of the company’s portfolio, however, includes residential work in various upmarket estates within the area.
What do you love about your profession?
I love designing – the process of assisting a client to realise their dreams.
How do you celebrate other women in the home industry?
It is always a pleasure to work with other women in the industry, especially when it comes to residential architecture. When the opportunity presents itself, women come together and add something special. They have the ability through deeper emotions and connections to turn a house into a home.
Who or what has been your inspiration throughout your life?
Nature, including what you see around you when on-site.
What is your life affirmation that you live by daily?
Trust God – He always provides for you and determines your path.
What is the one book that you recommend every woman needs to read?
Paulo Coelho’s The Pilgrimage. It has such a wonderful life message about reaching your dreams.
If your life were a movie title, what would it be?
Under the Tuscan Sun. I love the architecture, the landscape, the togetherness of the women. And, of course, the romance.
What’s the one thing that makes you get out of bed in the morning?
My dog!
A woman to me is … such a special creation. Strength, but with tenderness. A leader, but with understanding and compassion.
