Bold design by Lisa Grue

Written by Jess Binns

Sometimes you just need a bit of colour in your life to cheer things up and take the seriousness out of your surroundings. One such lady who succeeds in bringing colour into her world is artist/illustrator, Lisa Grue.

Lisa is a super talented lady from Denmark who works out of an old, converted meatpacking factory in Copenhagen alongside her husband and other creatives. I, myself, used to share desk space in a great little studio in London with other designers/artists and it really does make for an inspirational setting, and also a great place to bounce your ideas around the room. This has obviously been the case for Lisa, as her illustrations have won her great accolades, described as “a sublime cocktail of zany ideas, superbly ambiguous humour, in-your-face attitude and poetic femininity”. Although sometimes controversial, you have to admit that Lisa’s work makes a lasting impression!

Becoming known as one of Denmark’s up and coming artists, Lisa recently received a grant from the National Art Foundation of Denmark. What a pretty impressive feat! What’s also impressive is her wonderfully creative home, which she shares with her hubby and 5-year-old son, Mika. Now this is a home I’d love to have a proper snoop around…

You can find out more about Lisa on the Red Thread blog, or why not hop over to her online store for a bit of colourful retail therapy!

Best wishes, Jess from Hector and Bailey.
