Design Junction Exhibition

Written by Jess Binns

As part of the London Design Festival, which takes place every September, the Design Junction is one event that should not missed. Showcasing the cutting-edge crew of furniture, lighting and decor, the Design Junction always proves to be a feast for the eyes.

Based in an old office, right in the heart of central London’s hustle and bustle, this year’s exhibition offered an array of creative vices ranging from seminars by the glitterati of furniture design to flash factories where industrial production was witnessed first hand. The sound of the latter really caught my attention; a chance to experience age old practices at work. Handmade tiles and decorative glass cutting were two such talents on show.

To celebrate the ‘Year of the Bus’, Transport for London provided weary visitors with an exclusively designed restaurant to dine in. Produced in partnership with furniture and lighting designers: Modus, Angelpoise and NUD, the outcome was a whimsical play on the traditional public transport system.

Pop-up shops lined the ground floor, enabling you to take one step further than just window-shopping. A wonderful idea to appease the buying urge while taking in the very best in decor and design.

Don’t get too disheartened if you missed this one, there’s always next year’s to plan for!
