Luxury bathrooms, kitchens, walk-in closets, lighting and bespoke furniture prove South African craftsmanship is bold, innovative and built for modern living.
From statement interiors to beautifully crafted furniture, this year’s East Coast Radio House + Garden Show celebrates local designers and makers shaping contemporary South African spaces.

Bathroom with personality
Durban creatives Simphiwe Mlambo of DSGNS_ISMANJE and Skhumbuzo Selby of Nkayisshana Décor are collaborating on a bold bathroom installation featuring striking textures and statement screens. Both qualified in interior design at the Durban University of Technology and regularly combine their skills in furniture design, cabinetry and installation.
Simphiwe, who previously showcased at Design Indaba and was recognised through Nando’s Young Designer programme, says collaboration is key to bringing concepts to life. Together, the duo will showcase a space that blends creativity with craftsmanship.

Walk-in closet luxury
Highlight RSA will unveil a luxurious walk-in closet designed around timeless contemporary style, premium finishes and innovative lighting. The space also demonstrates clever concealed storage solutions for modern homes.
Founder Sulaiman “Solly” Bhabha took an unconventional path into interiors, moving from engineering into design after a custom make-up mirror sparked demand for his work. Today, Highlight RSA specialises in customised renovations, cabinetry, furniture and shopfitting, all produced from its own workshop.

Timeless outdoor furniture
Insika Interiors and Pinda Furniture and Interior Design reunite for a modern kitchen installation celebrating bespoke craftsmanship and collaborative design, complete with seating by Jehz Sofas in Umhlanga.
Durban-born designers Nokukhanya Mthethwa and Siyanda Mbele both studied interior design at the Durban University of Technology and have earned recognition for their work in furniture and interior design. Their collaboration highlights custom furniture, quality workmanship and the power of creative partnerships.

The outdoor lifestyle
KZN Midlands-based Ikonik Luxury Furniture joins forces with interior decorator Katie Allen of Urban Yuppi to create an immersive indoor-outdoor living concept.
The installation explores two distinct South African lifestyles, coastal and bush, using layered textures, colour and styling to show how versatile furniture can transform a space. Ikonik’s contemporary outdoor pieces are designed for South African living, combining clean lines, sustainability and durability.

The drama of light
Creative Design Strategist Tammy Maharaj of Chaleureux Interiors & Lighting presents an immersive luxury installation focused on atmosphere, texture and sculptural lighting.
The space combines warm tonal contrasts and curated finishes to create a refined, elegant environment designed to evoke emotion and a lasting sense of calm.
The East Coast Radio House + Garden Show takes place from June 27 to July 5 bringing nine unforgettable days of inspiration, shopping, and entertainment to the Durban Exhibition Centre.
Tickets are available online via www.quicket.co.za or www.housegardenshow.co.za or at the entrance on the day.
