Following the flat out success of founding hotel, The Drake, in downtown Toronto, it’s rural counterpart has now opened it’s doors. Set in the heart of Prince Edward countryside in the county of Ontario, The Drake Devonshire is a glorious mix of old and new.
Originally an Iron foundry, the historically rich building now plays host to a boutique hotel, restaurant and event space. Set on the edge of the famous Lake Ontario, there is no shortage of outdoor activities to make this a great destination.
However my main reason to visit would be to experience the brave and bold mix of styles that results in a very attractive place to rest your head. Behind the finished article is owner Jeff Stober and designer, John Tong, who first collaborated on the Drake Hotel. Utilising local artists and designers, both hotels manage to define the creative community each are situated in. This makes for interior eye candy that will cheer even the saddest of souls.
You can almost feel the energy that the Devonshire gives off through the various interior shots shown on their website. I can only imagine that the clash of colours awaken creative juices, leading to bursts of inspiration and rejuvenation. Canada has not been on my bucket list before. It’s just made the grade.
Best wishes,
Jess from Hector and Bailey
