Over the past few months we’ve covered the marvelous work of Jasper & George, a furniture and décor company with a strong focus on upcycling. Now, we’re excited to announce that this innovative company, with a strong social conscience, have collaborated with a number of creatives on a doll-house that will be auctioned off for charity.

Launched on Monday 8 April at The Fringe on Kloof, the exhibition showcases a designer furnished double storey Cape Dutch house built to a scale of 1:10. Using only re-purposed materials, Jasper & George built the house as well as some of their signature furniture pieces to scale, and turned to fellow creatives to help them furnish the house further.

As husband and wife team Ina and Heinrich were conceptualising the building of a doll-house for their window display, the idea developed to sell the house for charity. “With winter on our doorstep it dawned on us how many people out there don’t have a roof over their head.”

Like a real house, A House has been advertised on the online classifieds portal Gumtree. Show house viewings are organised daily at The Fringe on Kloof. Interested buyers can make an offer by responding to the ad. Transfer will take place on Monday 29 April. Proceeds of the sale will go to Rosie’s Kitchen, a Khayelitsha based charity that feeds over 250 kids on a daily basis.

Collaborating creatives are Jasper & George Furniture and Décor, Ingrained Woodcraft, Moko, mywalltattoos, Maureen Visagé, Isle of Trees, Henri Kuikens and Thea van Staden. The house also boosts a designer gown by winner of the Elle Rising Star Award Jane Elizabeth Kotzé.
