What legacy would you like to leave in the industry?
I would like to be remembered as someone who worked hard, treated people with respect and helped create opportunities for other women in the industry. If I can inspire even one young woman to pursue a career in technology, I would consider that a personal success.
Who or what has been your inspiration throughout your life?
My grandfather was a big inspiration to me when I was growing up. He taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. Professionally, Schalk Burger (our company founder and owner) has been a great mentor. I have worked alongside him for the past 18 years and have learnt a great deal from him.
What is the one book that you recommend every woman needs to read?
Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Emil Frankl. It is a powerful book about resilience, purpose and finding meaning even during difficult times. I suggest having a box of tissues nearby.
A woman to me is … someone who can be strong, fearless, loving, caring and determined all at the same time.
