Build it green – part 22

Written by admin

Choosing paint colours proved to be more difficult than anticipated. We just can’t seem to visualise the final product. It doesn’t help that men come from Mars. When I told my hubby that I wanted a “cappuccino” look outside, he insisted it would be too dark, and we have now agreed on a “café-late” look instead! (He is not even Italian!)

Our tiles arrived too. Good choice I reckon, and that did help in choosing the interior colour as we had something to match up to.

Finishings are happening all over: there is a lot of sanding off jutting edges of MgO board, smoothing of Silca sealant between the boards, and sweeping in preparation for the tiling and painting. The last few cornicings are also in place and painted.

The gas man arrived to install the gas pipes. They have been chased into the floor, which was actually a pretty simple task, and now we are all set for the tiling, which is due to start tomorrow.

The inside door frames have arrived, and one of the workers has been busily preparing for their installation so that the bases sit inside the screed.

The site is also being tidied. Now that the house is secure, all the tools are being kept inside and the container that was sitting in the yard has been removed, so we can start to prepare the outside for grass and paving.

I love visiting the site. Every time we go there has been another new addition, and we are getting more and more excited. I have now started packing in earnest, and getting removal quotations. With a bit of luck, we will be moving in March!
