A new year means new energy and what better way to start 2013 then by injecting that energy into your home with a selection of brights from Plascon’s 2013 Colour Forecast – Golden Daffodil Y3-A1-1, Fuscia Fizz R2-A1-1, Hot ‘n Spicy R6-B1-1, Sunset in the Desert 03-B1-1 and Plascon’s own “hero” green Dragon’s Hide G2-C1-1 – which is enjoying popularity now that Pantone has announced emerald green as its 2013 Colour of the Year.

Plascon’s Colour Forecasts are a blend of the latest trends both locally and internationally. Each colour plays a vital role in translating the trends that we see in a multitude of industries,” says internationally acclaimed colour expert and Plascon’s colour manager, Anne Roselt. “These trendy brights will bring that colourful spark to summer whether they’re painted on a wall or on tired furniture that is in need of revitalizing. There simply aren’t better choices for summer and the new year.”

After serving for 10 years on the panel of the London-based International Colour Authority (ICA), Roselt has now been invited to join renowned trend forecasting group, the Mix, making her South Africa’s foremost colour authority. The Mix Trends reports are published by the Global Colour Authority.

Roselt brings a wealth of knowledge and longstanding expertise to bear on her choice of colours for Plascon’s forecast, and her 2013 selection is proving its accuracy over and over in the current popularity of brights in both fashion and home. Golden Daffodil and Fuscia Fizz are the perfect high contrast brights to give a sense of energy to your home. Used in conjunction with deep blues or greys, these colours provide striking accents on a feature wall or individual items.

Strong and uplifting colours such as Hot ‘n Spicy and Sunset in the Desert, bring a spark to interiors without overwhelming them. These are perfect if you’re a fan of colour-blocking and want to create a real statement in your home. Dragon’s Hide is a similarly striking, stand-out colour that brings a touch of vibrant nature to your home.
