As someone who is not familiar with home automation, I am looking into investing in a system. Please can you briefly explain what home automation is?

For both existing (retrofit) and new homes, automation and smart integration are now a simple and easy feature that anyone can enjoy. Everything from lighting control and surveillance to irrigation, whole home audio/video and more can be included into the automation system.
With the technology available at our fingertips in today’s world, there isn’t much we can’t control or integrate our home automation systems with. However, in order to keep these systems practical and easy to use for the home owner, we tend to focus more on the common applications mentioned above.
