Hotels with a difference

Have you ever heard of the King & Grove Hotel group? Neither had I, until I came across a hotel review while recently indulging my dreams of being whisked off to New York for some serious retail therapy!

It seems King & Grove are a hotel group with a sense of moral purpose, which makes for a refreshing change, and what’s more, they seem to be pulling off a very cool vibe with their latest string of “hipster hotels” found dotted around the Big Apple.

“Creating intriguing hotels. Sophisticated and accessible, with a sense for authentic design, in interesting places, for exciting people. Innovative restaurants and bars, progressive retail, bespoke amenities, and an emphasis on immersive service.”

My favourite is Ruschmeyer’s – a preppy, summer camp feel on a grown up level. From what I see and read, this is the place to head to for some nonsensical table tennis, simple but friendly nautical interiors and classic maritime cocktails. The converted 1952 building is set next to a lakeside in lush woodlands in Montauk, and the co-owner and designer Robert McKinley has kept true to its roots, providing a very appealing, retro feel.

I love to think of myself as a bit of a “hipster” who loves home comforts mixed with great style. So Ruschmeyer’s has now been added to the list of places to rest my head at some point in the near future. It’s also worth checking out their other hotels, I guarantee you’ll find one with a vibe that suits you!

Best wishes, Jess from Hector and Bailey
